What is Natasha's Mangrove Nature Tour?
Langkawi Mangrove Tour is a cruise along Kilim River, exploring mangrove swamp. Along the way you can see mangrove trees on the both river banks. See closely inside the mangrove, you also can see macaques, Mangrove Monitor - Monitor lizards are semiaquatic and spend much of their time in or near water. Most adult Mangrove monitors average between 2 1/2 and 4 feet in length (including tail),
Mudskipper - Mudskippers are gobies that have become adapted to an amphibious lifestyle, Fiddler Crab - it is only the male Fiddler crab that has one claw significantly larger than the other. The male uses it to court females. If for some reason the larger claw is lost, the remaining smaller claw will grow larger and the lost claw re-grows as the smaller one! Fiddler crabs can't swim!. Brahminy Kite is the most popular animal. Some people like ti feed the eagle and its call 'eagle feeding'. But that maybe disturb their ecosystem.
Don't forget in the water where you can see dolphin (only if you're lucky). Back to the tour, you will make a stop at Bat Cave. The boatman will berth the boat closely to the jetty, so you can jump out to the stairs that lead to the cave mouth. Walk along the walkway to the cave entrance, then enter the cave. Once you inside, you will 'feel' something on top of you. That is the bats. Use the torch light spare to you to spot them - hundreds of bat hanging at the cave ceiling. If you snap a photo with the flash on, you will able to see the bats and the cave ceiling clearly. Keep walking. At the other end, there is another cave mouth, so you just walk straight further and start looking outside of the cave with half round until come to the jetty - the boat is ready to proceed your tour. Langkawi Mangrove Tour not only with the cave but also a tour to explore and knowing the animal, birds and dolphin. The boat continue to cruise to the area where the boatman will throw some chicken intestine into the water, in minutes, a dozens of Brahminy Kite fly out from the mangrove trees to catch their 'food'. Snap the flying eagle with your camera. The eagle is flying up and down around the boat.
Done with the eagle feeding, proceed your tour to the open ocean, here you can see Street of Malacca. Over there look at the huge signage saying 'KILIM GEOFOREST PARK'. Many people went thee to take photo of the signage. Langkawi Mangrove Tour does not end there, because the boatman will then proceed to the Crocodile Cave. It is a cave but without crocodile. Unlike Bat Cave, we can meet bats, but not Mr. Croc. During low tide the cave mouth open and the boat can easily enter the cave with the boat. It don't have dry floor for you to walk on. Just by boat.
Fish farm is another stop in Langkawi Mangrove Tour. Here at the fish farm, people come to see different types of fish and the one the will interest you is the stingrays. Many love to feed them because they are tame animals. Some time the boatman will arrange the tour in different way. |
